our mission

Street Theory Collective is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that empowers underrepresented creatives by fortifying and amplifying their respective art forms through talent and business development, intergenerational mentorship, cross-sector collaboration, and local engagement to increase equity in creative industries and build a more inclusive creative sector. Through artist residencies, community-centered exhibitions, and cross-sector partnerships, we build platforms for artists to ideate, create, and thrive—while reshaping access and equity in the arts.

our story

Street Theory Collective was born from the walls, the streets, and the studios—spaces where culture lives but isn’t always seen.

Co-founded by cultural producer Liza Quiñonez and visual artist Dr. Rob “ProBlak” Gibbs, STC emerged from decades of grassroots work, public art, and deep community engagement. Long before the nonprofit was formed, Liza and Rob were already creating large-scale murals, curating exhibitions, and mentoring the next generation of creatives across Boston and beyond.

They kept running into the same thing: brilliant artists without access. Gatekeepers who couldn’t see the vision. Institutions that weren’t built for the communities that built the culture.

So they created something new.

From public art and independent music to boundary-pushing theater and global cuisine, this neighborhood pulses with cultural innovation. As proud partners of the Central Square BID, we’re joining a community committed to keeping the Square clean, safe, and creatively alive—investing in public art, small businesses, and inclusive programming that reflects the spirit of the people who call this place home.

Home base

Located at 541 Massachusetts Ave. in the heart of Central Square, our home base is a vibrant cultural hub designed to nurture creativity and community. The space features a rotating gallery showcasing underrepresented artists, an artist-in-residence program that supports emerging voices, and a flexible coworking area for our members to gather, create, and collaborate. More than just a physical space, it’s a living extension of our mission—to empower artists, cultivate culture, and make space for radical imagination.
